Honoring Dennis McBride for His Excellence in Yo-Yo Play
Passion and spirit epitomize Dennis McBride who has been performing and promoting the world sport of yo-yo play as a member of Team High Performance (THP) since 1997. Dennis has combined performance with warmth, skill and professionalism throughout his world tours.
Dennis' career spans over four decades and during that time, he has amassed fifteen yo-yo titles, including the California State Yo-Yo Champion. Dennis is a leader in the sport of "yoing" and has been given the title of Yo-Yo Master by the American Yo-Yo Association. His is one of only four Masters in the world.
Dennis and his wife, Carol, travel throughout Hawaii and the United States conducting "Dream, Dare, Do" school assembly programs. Using the yo-yo as a tool, they strive to send the message that by setting goals, taking risks, and taking action, children can attain their dream through hard work and discipline. Dennis, a Baptist minister by profession, and his wife Carol love to share this message with children of all ages.
Dennis has exhibited the mastery of using a skill toy and has won the hearts of all who watch him. He has maintained a standard of excellence and is recognized as a positive and inspiring role model simply because he believes that with discipline, hard work, and enthusiasm, he can go places beyond his imagination. The Aloha Spirit is alive in mind, body, and spirit with Dennis McBride.
The Senate of the Twentieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 1999, recognizes Dennis McBride for his goodwill and yo-yo play that has contributed to the yo-yo boom around the world, and wishes him continued success in his future endeavors.
